Nearly a quarter acre of garden space in the heart of the school campus, dedicated to creating outdoor learning experiences that cultivate curiosity about natural life cycles, connecting students to their food sources, and inspiring new nutrition choices. Thirty-two teachers, grades K-5 and more than 750 students are involved in the program, managed by the South Maui Garden Project. In 2008 the garden began with three raised beds and has expanded to more than 10,000 square feet of living classroom space. In 2010, garden sponsorship began byCapische? restaurant chef, Brian Etheredge, and owner of A Private Maui Chef company, Dan Fiske. This generous sponsorship allowed the South Maui School Garden Project to hire a part-time garden coordinator.
